Galway based; contemporary singer song writer Michael O’Connor originally from Co Mayo has released three albums to date. ‘Octopus Tattoo, I’m not myself in Character and Market Plaice’ have a country/folk vibe and exhibit shades of John Prine, Mick Flavin, Jimmy Mccarthy, kris kristofferson, Steve Goodman and Screaming J. Hawkins. After winning the ‘John Arden’ award in 2015 for a poem called ‘Sanctimonious-ness’ in NUIG, Mike rewrote it as a song. Mike left school aged 16.
