Its origins lie with the military band of the town’s British Army Garrison – the only source of Classical and European music for the townspeople. During the 1990s, the Band fell into decline and, by 1999, had ceased to function as an operating unit. However, the people of Fermoy still demonstrated a remarkable level of support, and immense loyalty, for the Band. Through their persistence, and the determination of former members unwilling to abandon their passion for music, the band was revived and reincarnated in 2000.
